ELEGIBILTY: Entries are open to all financial Furnishing Industry Association of Australian (FIAA) members. Non-Members of FIAA are also eligible to enter, though a higher entry fee will apply. Projects must be completed at the time of nomination submission. Projects must have been completed between 1 January 2016 and 31 July 2017.


APPRENTICE AWARD ELIGIBILTY: Entry is open to 2nd, 3rd and 4th year apprentices. Apprentices must be enrolled under the Furnishing Industry Association of Australia (FIAA) workplace based apprenticeship system. There is no restriction on entrants age. However, apprentices aged between 18 and 29 years of age as of the 31st December 2017 will be eligible to be put forth for the John Tiddy Award 2018. Entrants must be located in NSW or the ACT.


JUDING PROCESS: All entries, except the Apprentice of the Year awards, will remain anonymous until finalists are announced.  

All entries will be pre-judged by an independent panel of industry experts.

Any entry, which in the opinion of the judging panel, belong in another category will be re-categorised.

No on-site inspections will be carried out by the judging panel.

The Design of the Year Award and Outstanding Achievement of the Year Awards will be judged from the winners of the various categories.


JUDGING CRITERIA: The Design Award Categories are judged on the following criteria: Design | Functionality | Innovation. Please submit photographs as evidence that the judging criteria have been met.

The Outstanding Achievement Categories will be judged on their supporting documentation evidence and their contribution to the workplace.

The judging panels’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered in to.


ANNOUNCEMENT OF WINNERS: Design Award Categories and Outstanding Achievement Award Categories finalists will be announced by Friday 8th September 2017. 

All finalists, or a representative, must be in attendance at the FIAA Awards Dinner to be eligible to receive the award.

Winners of the Major Awards: Design of the Year and Outstanding Achievement of the Year will be announced at the FIAA Awards Dinner.

Apprentice of the Year Award winners will be announced Friday 8th September 2017.

Apprentice award winners, or a representative, must be in attendance at the FIAA Awards Dinner to be eligible to receive the award.

HOW TO ENTER: All entries to be submitted using the 2017 FIAA Awards Nomination Forms. Entry forms to be saved as member number and award category eg. 4220 – Best Kitchen under $20,000

One entry per form. Multiple entries on one form will not be accepted.


PHOTOGRAPHY REQUIREMENTS DESIGN AWARD CATEGORIES: A minimum of four (4) and maximum of eight (8) high resolution digital photographs per entry must be included. Digital photographs must not exceed 1MB.

If the project entry is of a renovation or restoration, please include a minimum of two (2) before project photographs.

Please save each image file with your member number and award category eg. 4220 – Best Kitchen under $20,000

Please ensure you have approval from the owner and photographer to use these images and that the images do not infringe on the rights of the photographer or any other party.


PHOTOGRAPHY REQUIREMENTS OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT CATEGORIES: All entries in these categories are to submit one (1) high resolution digital individual photo of the nominee in the workplace. Digital photograph files must not exceed 1MB.


SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION: Supporting documentation relates to nominee portfolios, employer recommendations and customer testimonials. Supporting document must be provided on company letterhead in either word or PDF format.


ENTRY FEES: Entry fees are as specified on page 1. A tax invoice will be issued on receipt of entry. Payment must be received within 7 days of submitting your entry. Failure to pay by due date may exclude the entry from judging.


EARLY BIRD ENTRY: Early bird entries fees are applicable as specified on page 1. Entries and payment are to be received by Friday 12th May 2017.


CLOSING DATE: Monday 21st August 2017. Late entries may incur a surcharge.
