What is Industry Specialist Mentoring for Australian Apprentices (ISMAA)?
Read below to see how our Mentoring Program is benefiting Companies and their Apprentices.
"Designer Living Kitchens have been working with the FIAA from early 2017 in association with our Apprentices with an aim to all completing MSF31113 Certificate 111 in Cabinetmaking. All our Apprentices are signed up to the Industry Specialist Mentoring to Australian Apprentices and Trainees (ISMAA) program. The additional support offered to our team of apprentices has taken a great deal of pressure away from supervisors on our team, by developing effective and efficient apprentice workers. We are experiencing growth in these students, with visibly improved attitudes and behaviour. In addition, the apprentices have clearer life goals and improved punctuality. We have gained a lot from working with FIAA teams and trust the FIAA will continue to maintain its success in mentoring students and progressing them to completion of their trade training."
Margaret Craig, Operations Manager
"AMS Furniture currently employs six apprentices and two trainees through Central Coast Group Training at our Lisarow site. In recent months we have partnered with FIAA to offer a mentoring program to the five eligible apprentices. In that time, I have observed all of the individuals involved grow in confidence and improve their communication skills. Discussions with Liam, their mentor, has allowed each apprentice to open dialogues with the company regarding their future and the skills they would like to learn going forward. This has resulted in opportunities that may not have eventuated without the mentoring support provided by Liam.
Even when dealing with disciplinary matters, the support provided by FIAA has proven to be a benefit to company. Liam is able to provide an additional voice to what is presented which allows a different perspective for the apprentice involved. I would not hesitate to recommend the ISMAA mentoring program to any business that employs apprentices and will continue to encourage any new apprentices to sign up with the program."
