GROUP TRAINING ORGANISATIONS

Group Training Companies Group Training companies (GTC) employ apprentices and trainees under the Federal Government’s New Apprenticeship scheme and hire them to businesses (host employers) while they undertake their training. GTC’s have earned wide acclaim throughout Australia and now employ more than 45,000 apprentices and trainees. In fact, GTC’s are currently working with more than 35,000 enterprises nationwide.

GTC’s employ apprentices and trainees and host them out to companies for the term of the apprenticeship or traineeship. During this time the GTC is responsible for the recruitment process, payroll, entitlement payments, human resources, industrial relations issues and so on. This gives the host employer the resources to concentrate on core-business activities and improve productivity. Each Group Training Company is an independent and separately incorporated, not for profit organisation run on commercial business lines most Group Training Companies receive financial support from state and federal governments to assist with administrative overheads - about 3 to 5% of turnover the expense to host employers is minimal, and includes a small cost recovery charge for the Group Training Company - this is their main source of income.
